Sunday Worship October 2, 2022

  • Call to Worship:

Leader: Let us worship the God who satisfies our every need, the Good Shepherd who guides us to abundance and refreshment.

Congregation: Restore us, God Almighty; make your face shine on us that we may be saved.

Leader: Let us praise the God who specializes in the restoration of the soul, who navigates our perfect path, and is present with us in times of trouble.

Congregation: Restore us, God Almighty; make your face shine on us that we may be saved.

Leader: He is our Blessing and our Protector. God surrounds and nourishes us in the midst of the assailing forces that seek our destruction.

All: Let us give thanks to our relentless God, the Hound of Heaven who pursues us with goodness and mercy all the days of our lives for he has heard and answered our cries for restoration. Amen.

Scripture Reading: Jas 5:13-16; 19-20 (ESV)

13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise.

14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.

15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

19 My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back,

20 let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

Title: We’re Better Togethere

Text:  Gal 6:1-5 (ESV)

1Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.

2 Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

3 For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.

4 But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor.

5 For each will have to bear his own load.

Invitation to Discipleship:

Church Covenant

Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father (Yahweh) and of the Son (Yahshua), and of the Holy Spirit, we do now in the presence of God and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.

We agree, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love, to strive for the advancement of this Church in knowledge, holiness, and comfort. To promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its Worship, Ordinances, Discipline and Doctrines; to give it a sacred preeminence over all institutions of human origin; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the Church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel through all nations. We also agree to maintain family and secret devotions: to instruct our children the Christian way of life; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk carefully in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful to our engagements. and watchful of our conduct; to refrain from everything which may bring reproach upon the Christian name, and also to guard the Good Name of the Church; to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior.

We further agree to watch over one another in brotherly love, and to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in brotherly love, and to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation and mindful of the rule of our Savior to secure it without delay.

Moreover, we agree that when we remove from this place, we will as soon as possible, unite with some other Church, where we can carry out the Spirit of this covenant and the principles of God's word.
